You wouldn’t believe it, but somehow FiWin (which is owned by FIC) got Skype and SIP to sit down at the table together and play some Mahjong. It’s not really technically all that difficult, but until now we hadn’t really seen a Skype / SIP dual-mode VoIP capable handset, so we welcome you, oh pathfinding FX28S and SS28S WiFi
phones; otherwise they’re just another couple of 802.11b
phone devices with a 3.5 hour call life, a USB
1.1 connector, and a weak 1.2-inch 65k color 128 x 95 CSTN display in the the FX28S, and a 1.4-inch monochrome 96 x 65 display in the SS28S.

Sony just announced their new W850 Walkman cellphone
and this baby’s hot. Available in black or white as designs tend to go these days, this tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 slider also delivers UMTS 2100. It comes pre-loaded with the latest Walkman 2.0 player 2.0 with TrackID allowing you to lookup and identify recorded music samples via the Gracenote Mobile MusicID service. Not only that, but it ships with a 1GB of Memory
Strick PRO Duo’in storage (with up to 4GB supported) and features a horizontal mode 2 megapixel shooter with LED light. Rounding out the features are a 2-inch QVGA TFT 260k color display, RDS FM Stereo radio, and Bluetooth
2.0 with A2DP stereo audio. No price but we can expect these to ship sometime Q3 2006… in Europe. More pics after the break.

We’ve never really been into Pooh. But if the Tao of the honey bear has you or your youngin’ by the throat then perhaps the Dmobo P700 is the phone for you. Built in cahoots with Disney, the P700 sports many of the same features as big-girl phones: digital camera with flash, MP3
and MPEG-4 media player, and of course, a healthy slathering of Winnie the Pooh themes, wallpapers, ringtones, and accessories sure to make the $332 price-tag plus airfare to Hong Kong or Macau (where this is available) all seem worthwhile. Right, princess?

Hot on the heels of
href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/04/25/nokias-n73-and-n93-launched/">Nokia’s N93 announcement are some
shots of this camcorder/phone in the wild. Japanese site PlusD Mobile has plenty of snaps but little in the way of
review commentary on Nokia’s new flagship N-series phone expected to drop for some €550/$690 in July. So kick
back, and feast on the eye-candy for a few until we can nab ya’ll some actual MPEG-4 recordings from this pup. Then
we’ll see if Nokia’s plan to

the camcorder (and DAP player) bidness in the same way cellphones have kicked alarm clocks, wrist watches, and
low-end digitalcams to the curb, is for realz. The N93 is certainly capable given its relative size (to a camcorder)

2.4-inch fold-out display, and the ability to pump video down the TV-out jack or over WiFi to any

Well hello there

href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/17/the-next-n-series-n93/">N93, how nice to see you in the for realz at last.
Other than finally making these phones official we don’t really have too much new information to offer. Both models run
Series 60 3rd edition and feature large 2.4-inch QVGA, 262k color displays, Bluetooth 2.0, miniSD slot expansion,
MP3/ACC media players, FM radio
with Visual Radio, and a chubby 3.2 megapixel shooter with Carl Zeiss optics,
autofocus, mechanical shutter, and integrated flash. Want to share those snaps? Coolio daddy-o, ’cause a new
partnership with Flickr gives you the ability to upload and add comments to your photos directly from your new N-series
cellphone without the need to download any additional software. The N73 will launch as both a quad-band GSM/EDGE model
and another which includes 3G (2100MHz UMTS). It features 42MB of on-board memory and 3D stereo speakers at the top and
bottom of the unit to kick out some tinny jams. Meanwhile the

900/1800/1900 GSM/EDGE and 3G (2100MHz UMTS), 50MB built-in memory, 802.11b/g WiFi

to stick with the N92 though, since the N93 does not feature a DVB-H tuner. Both will drop in July. Welcome to the show
boys. More product images after the break.

LG has just filed a patent for a new type of slider phone wherein a motorized, protective covering containing the
microphone and antenna slides up to reveal the screen and keypad, and of course, extend the antenna. Called a
"drawer-type" phone, this design supposedly offers numerous advantages over traditional form factors, taking
the best attributes of different phone styles while attempting to minimize their shortcomings. For instance, a drawer
phone maintains the compact profile of a flip phone or slider while in a bag or pocket, while at the same time
situating the mic closer to your mouth when in-use, a la some of the better candybar mobiles. You also get the screen
protection and dual display benefits of a clamshell, because the sliding section contains a clear window, but none of
the finger strain involved with manually opening and closing the flip. This design definitely seems to have its
benefits, but since this patent has a long way to go before being approved, we're not sure when or even if we'll ever
see it in production.Filed under: Handsets, GSM, GPRS
