f-tech unveils NAV 550 Professional Navigator

Filed under:

If you’re scouting a run-of-the-mill GPS handheld, and have the itch for something a bit different than those Garmin and TomTom units already on shelves everywhere, f-tech’s got your solution. The same folks who brought you the (partly) solar-powered Solar 7 GPS unit have toned things down with the NAV 550 Professional Navigator, as it resorts to just the basics when leading folks around. Powered by a 400MHz Samsung RISC microprocessor, the device provides turn-by-turn voice guidance and boasts integrated smart2go maps, a 3.5-inch touchscreen, SiRF Star III antenna, SD slot, stereo speakers, and a (presumably non-explosive) rechargeable Li-ion battery. It also sports a headphone jack and USB 2.0 connectivity, while touting the ability to “operate indoors” by receiving “tracking signals down to -159dBm.” Although pricing and availability details have yet to surface, we’re fairly certain this ho hum offering won’t dent the travel budget too bad when it hits North America.

Fujitsu’s C1410 laptop for business travelers on a budget

Apparently Fujitsu understands that not all business travelers have burgeoning corporate expense accounts ready and willing to absorb the cost of the latest $3,000 ultra-portable business machine. Their new C1410 notebook offers up a Core Duo processor, a 15.4-inch XGA display, up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.0 and up to 100GB of storage, with basic configurations starting at just $1,199. We understand that carrying around a 6.6-pound machine (.1-pound lighter than Lenovo’s widely praised and oft-copied ThinkPad Z61m) might be out of the question for some airport rats, but those willing to deal with the extra weight can also enjoy the 11-hours of battery life Fujitsu promises with the addition of an extra cell in a modular bay. Just make sure you get a laptop backpack with some extra padding in the straps to make the arduous walk from tarmac to taxi a little easier.

Now's the moment you've been waiting for: that Nokia 3250 WESC Limited Edition Travel Kit's now officially available, people. As usual, your limited edition handset won't be featuring anything out of the ordeinary except a retooled paint job, but if you've been thinking of taking the plunge with a Nokia 3250, and as a side note wanted your handset to be one of 500 pieces, and come packaged with travel info on an MMC card, Sennheiser PX 100 phones, an inline remote, Stereo Skateboards wheel, an eyemask, WESC travel guide, passport holder, cellphone strap, pins, and, um, balloon (for trafficing drugs, perhaps?), then this is your phone.

[Thanks, Jack]
